BMW 535d E60 M Sport Twin Turbo – Stage 2 – 380bhp – 133,000 Miles 2004 BMW 535d E60 M Sport 133,000 genuine miles MOT until October 2026 Reluctantly selling my BMW 535d due to needing the money for my work van, which requires a replacement engine, and because I’m likely to lose my driving licence following an upcoming court case. If neither of those things were happening, I genuinely wouldn’t be selling it. This is a seriously quick Stage 2 diesel, producing around 380bhp . Anyone who knows these cars will know how capable they are when set up properly. Work I’ve carried out I’ve spent a lot of time and money maintaining this car. Gearbox refurbishment: Gearbox fully serviced using genuine BMW parts. Mechatronics unit removed and refurbished. Replaced seals, rubber sleeves, dowels, O-rings, washers and gaskets. Torque converter drained and refilled with fresh oil. Gearbox oil replaced. Gearbox adaptations reset and relearned using Launch diagnostics. The gearbox drives beautifully. Suspension work: Front suspension arms replaced. Lower ball joints replaced. Upper arms replaced. General front suspension refreshed. The only parts I never got around to fitting were the inner/outer track rods, which I believe I still have brand new somewhere. The car drives straight and doesn’t pull left or right. Also fitted: Two new rear tyres. Known faults (being completely honest) I’d rather describe everything now than waste anyone’s time. Exhaust There was originally a small exhaust leak which has since cracked/snapped near the catalytic converter area. The catalytic converter itself isn’t damaged. It will need either: welding, a replacement section fitted, or many people choose to gut the section during repair. Battery drain The car has a battery drain which will flatten the battery overnight. I’ve simply been disconnecting the battery in the boot when parked overnight. It may also benefit from a replacement battery. Occasional starting issue Very occasionally the red gearbox cog appears on the dashboard and the engine won’t crank. This is NOT a gearbox fault. After diagnosing it, I’ve found the issue is caused by two slightly corroded ECU connector pins. I’ve cleaned them which improved things, but occasionally it still happens. When it does, I simply bypass the starter with a wire under the bonnet and it starts straight away. I just haven’t had the time to properly repair the connector. Cosmetic Nearside wing mirror rear casing is missing. Mirror glass and electric mirror still work correctly. Why I’m selling The only reasons are: My business work van needs a replacement engine costing over £3,000. I’m expecting to lose my driving licence following an upcoming court case. Otherwise I’d happily be keeping it. I’ve tried to describe the car as honestly as possible. I’m not hiding anything and I’d rather buyers know exactly what they’re coming to view. Please don’t arrive expecting to negotiate over faults that are already clearly listed above. If you’re mechanically minded, this is a fantastic opportunity to own a very quick Stage 2 E60 that has had a considerable amount of money and effort spent on it. Collection from Sunbury-on-Thames. Cash or bank transfer on collection. Thanks, Lee
