I really hope I’ve now enabled the option for making offers on the car – sorry for the re-listing attempts. Up for auction is my E65 BMW 730D. It is a rare Individual Spec car in Rubinschwarz colour, on 156k miles – reg: PK55 FHM I bought it as a something of a project earlier this year – driving it home without any issue for over 2 hours. I put a lot of effort in to getting the car ready for an MOT, but shortly thereafter it started smoking light grey and I’ve been unable to fix it. Engine All 6x injectors cleaned/tested/replaced with test sheets to confirm. New anti-shudder valve, EGR cooler, PCV valve and re-cored turbo. The intake manifold gaskets have been replaced and swirl flaps removed. All 6x glow plugs removed recently, and found to be working. DPF has been cleaned with compressed air and water and verified with good backpressure values after the work. New fuel filter installed. Bad: The engine is smoking light grey and will not pass MOT emissions as a result. The flexi section on the catalyst is damaged, but didn’t cause an issue for MOT test. Gearbox Serviced with new filter/pan, mechatronic sleeve, bridge seal and valve body seals with ZF OEM fluid. For the brief time I drove the car, the transmission felt great. There is a clunk from the drivetrain when a gear is selected – I’m assuming this is a worn guibo joint, or rear diff bushes. Interior Individual spec dark burgundy leather with fully adjustable front seats and front & rear entertainment. The seats are worn – particularly the driver’s seat – but there’s no holes or significant damage to the leather. The plan was to deep clean, and recolour the worn leather in time. Front and rear I drive interface works as expected – and it has a 6 disc DVD changer in the boot, and another CD changer in the front dashboard. Bad: One of the square caps covering screws for the passenger & driver front door cards is broken – easily sourced on eBay. The front I-drive screen plastic cover is cracked – but the screen behind it functions as normal. The headliner material has almost entirely come away from the panel – I was going to address this had the car been viable. The DVD changer has needed to be opened and the reader lens cleaned to get it to reliably read discs. The sound system is great – and kids have enjoyed watching dvds on it! Exterior Not the best exterior, but a rare colour combination. I Intended to take my time and address the exterior, once it passed a MOT; unfortunately, the engine had other plans. NSF wing has damage at the lip above the wheel. The rear bumper is scratched and dented in areas but easily repairable. There are some light dings to front and rear offside doors and general marks and scratches around the car commensurate with age. The front bumper is quite worn – as you might expect with age and 156k miles of apparently hard use. The wheels are aftermarket and not to my taste. The tyres are old and quite worn – but should pass an MOT. The plan was to replace these with factory BMW wheels and new tyres – but that hasn’t come to pass. The tyres are all old and worn, but didn’t cause concern at MOT – these would have been replaced had things gone according to plan. I removed some very poorly attached factory mudguards (these go with the car as they’re apparently rare, they’re in the boot) – but there’s marks to the paintwork on each corner of the car as a result. The rear inner boot lights are cracked – something they all do with age. I’ve replaced the fuel burning heater – the original one on the car was inoperative. The replacement item could benefit from coding. The car has working folding mirrors and power shut boot. I have spent some time clean/scrubbing and curing rust on the vehicle underbody. I removed all the underbody panels and cleaned out years of dirt and grime – and removing and treating surface rust with Bilt Hamber products. This is before I realised the engine was as problematic as it is. A corner of the front inner wheel well inside the engine bay was welded to cure some non structural rust – see the pictures. Miscellaneous There is no service history prior to my ownership, and the owner’s manual is not present either – which is a shame. I have documentation for the major bits I’ve done. The V5C is present. The car has brand new Bilstein B4 rear shock absorbers and springs – they were fitted and did all of 50 miles when I realised the problems with the engine. The car has the dynamic drive system which appears to be working. Supplied with 2x functional keys (one a bit tatty and would benefit from re-shell) Side indicators don’t match each other and driver’s side is loose fit. A connector issue stopping the passenger side indicator from working had been resolved – but given it’s smoking, I didn’t want to spend more and replace with OEM indicators. Seat occupancy sensor for the driver’s seat is malfunctioning – needs a repair, or use an emulator. One of the headlights need the level adjusting for MOT. Please check the MOT history for the last failure – engine emissions is the main issue. Aircon is inoperative. I suspect the condenser is pitted and leaking, and also I cut the aux. belt as part of the work to re-core the turbo. Starts, stops, drives for the purposes of loading on to a trailer – but no MOT, so cannot be driven away. The car is sold as spares/repair with issues as described. There may be other problems on it that I’m unaware of – and it absolutely will need attention before being presented for MOT again. There are no guarantees or warranties given or implied, and no returns accepted. Conditions of sale You’re most welcome to come and see the car by prior appointment. Auction winners will need to get in touch and make arrangements to collect the car. It will not be released until funds are cleared to my bank account and change of ownership has been recorded.
