2003 BMW 525i SE 2.5 Petrol Automatic (M54) – MOT Until May 2027 For sale is my 2003 BMW 525i SE automatic. I’m only selling because I’m looking to move to a smaller, more economical car for city driving. The car is fitted with the reliable 2.5L M54 straight-six petrol engine, which is well known for its smooth performance and durability. It drives well, pulls strongly, the automatic gearbox shifts smoothly, and the air conditioning works perfectly. The black leather interior is in good condition for its age, and the car has MOT until May 2027 . Like any 23-year-old BMW, it isn’t perfect, so I’d rather be upfront about the known issues: Uses around 1 litre of engine oil every 500–750 miles, so it needs topping up occasionally. Slow coolant leak. Occasional slight rattle around 1,500 rpm, likely a heat shield. Rear suspension bush is starting to wear and occasionally squeaks. Cosmetically, it has the usual age-related marks: Scratches on the rear driver’s side bumper. Bonnet has some sun/fade damage. Minor damage to the front bumper from a previous low-speed impact, leaving a small panel gap beneath one headlight. Marks above the driver’s door. Despite these age-related issues, it’s been a dependable and enjoyable car to own. It’s comfortable on longer journeys, has plenty of power from the straight-six engine, and would make a great car for someone who appreciates older BMWs or is happy to carry out a bit of maintenance.
