For sale, one 2008 5 Series BMW 2.0 diesel estate 158k. No MOT (expired 28/06/26) Please be aware of the following issues: The car will quite often go into limp home mode if it doesn’t get regular long drives due to the DPF clogging (this can generally be sorted by going on a long drive). The car would benefit from a forced regen or a full clean (or preferably replacement) of the DPF. The smell from the exhaust makes me think there’s some other problem with the air intake, but I’m not sure, it may just be the DPF. The near side fog light has stopped working following an unscheduled meeting between the car and my driveway gatepost. This is a definite MOT failure and why I’ve let the MOT lapse. The damage doesn’t look great but its not terrible, and there’s no rust so the paint is still largely intact. Should be an easy fix but might require a new fog light assembly. There is a chip in the windscreen about the size of a 10p coin. It’s low down on the passenger side, still watertight and not really a problem. There is a lengthy scuff mark along the near side of the car from an unfortunate car part incident. It’s not gone all the way through the paint so no rust, but it looks unsightly. The radio has terrible reception. The interior is in reasonable condition though there are lots of scuffs and marks on the seats. The boot is in quite a poor state (see photo), the boot light is missing and the handle for the spare cover is broken (you can still easily access the spare). There is no jack or wrench. I understand this is because the car is supposed to have runflats. I believe three of them still are. The BMW badge at the rear is missing (presumed nicked). The near side mirror is slightly warped such that the image it forms is a little wavey Advisories from last MOT: Seatbelt webbing slightly damaged or frayed Offside Front S hock absorbers has a reduced damping effect Offside front Oil leak, but not excessive [this is historic, these is no oil leaking from the car] This car has been a reliable workhorse for me for the past 4 1/2 years which I’ve serviced myself every 6 months or so (oil and filters). I have recently inherited a much newer car otherwise I would keep it going for a few more years yet. I’ve listed out everything I can think of that’s wrong with the car, but there may be other faults I’m not aware of. A few other things to note: The timing chain was replaced in 2016 (I’m guessing around 100,000 miles). The car has a Parrot Bluetooth device to connect to your phone. There is a USB and 3.5mm jack in the glove box. Astonishingly the aircon still works, though its not super cold. I can get around £350 if I scrap the car, so that’s where bids will start with no reserve. Any question or if you want to come and take a look please send me a message. On 31-May-26 at 20:42:38 BST, seller added the following information: Correction: the MOT is listed as expired 28/06/26, that should read 28/05/26.
