BMW 116i ES 3-door hatchback, manual 6-speed, 2008, 89,000 miles. Mine since 2013. Mechanically very sound, timing chain replaced, discs, half-shafts, etc. Service records from 2014. MOT to December. Bit lumpy at tickover now, my mechanic diagnosed No.1 injector on the way out, no issues on the road. No rust, but several rough areas in the bodywork now, only visible at close range. ‘Chin’ spoiler damaged both sides – needs replacing if you want a really neat appearance.…

No rust, but several rough areas in the bodywork now, only visible at close range. ‘Chin’ spoiler damaged both sides – needs replacing if you want a really neat appearance. Other age-related things – one warning light always on, apparently an over-sensitive nitrogen oxides sensor in early 1-series cars – not an MOT issue; engine stop/start doesn’t automatically stop when stationery; rear view mirror ‘floppy’ (doesn’t stay where positioned); battery voltage sensor suspect – can’t keep radio on when engine off without getting a battery warning indicator after a minute, but car always starts immediately in all weathers; rear screen heater dead; driver seat a little sun-bleached.
