It starts first time, runs smoothly and does not leak oil or coolant. The clutch operates well with no judder, the gearbox selects all gears well and the car pulls strongly throughout the ranges. The steering and suspension feel tight with no unwanted knocks or bangs, and the brakes perform well and pull up straight. There is currently a brake wear warning light illuminated on the dashboard. Given the recent replacement of the discs and pads, I believe this is likely due to a faulty wear sensor rather than the brakes themselves. The airbag warning light is also illuminated, which is a common issue on BMW Z3s and typically requires resetting with the correct diagnostic equipment. I am not a mechanic and therefore have not investigated this further. Interior & Roof The interior presents well for its age and is a pleasant place to be. The leather electric seats are in good condition and all electrical functions operate as intended. Importantly, the seat belt guides/holsters remain intact, which is uncommon on many Z3s. The manual soft top operates smoothly and avoids the potential issues associated with electric roof mechanisms. The roof is fully weatherproof and watertight. The only point to note is that the rubber trim surrounding the rear plastic screen has started to lift slightly in places, although this does not affect functionality. Bodywork Please study the photographs carefully as they form part of the description. The pictures were taken on 14th June and accurately reflect the vehicle’s condition. The car is not rusty but is let down by the bodywork. As expected from a 26-year-old car, there are a number of parking/trolley dents around the car, mainly the doors, along with age-related marks and scuffs. The car remains presentable and enjoyable to use, but it is not a concours example. For this reason, the vehicle has been priced realistically and represents excellent value for someone looking for a mechanically sound Z3 that can be enjoyed immediately while improving the cosmetics over time.
